Heading into Nvidia earnings the tech sector had another volatile day. I was able to start the day and execute on the strategy that I had planned after reading the SMCI 10-K last night, but made some misjudgements on the trajectory of a couple swings that pushed me into the red for the day.
It should have been a green day but I bailed on my SMCI puts before I should have. There is a lull in trading around lunch New York time that I have observed on a lot of the tech stocks. I pulled smaller profits from those SMCI positions before the post-lunch slide, which is frustrating considering the other options that went the other way.
Log
- SMCI predictably came down a bit, I had some success on thos options but I was too chicken to stay in some put positions longer. Missed out on making today a green day because of it. Damn.
- I saw a news story last night about how Amazon broke their losing streak and set out this morning to keep an eye out for call options on them and had success there.
- Most of my time and coins were tied up in the semiconductor fluctuations for the day.
- Call options continue to be a challenge for me to time the entry and exit into, got torched on some Nvidia (NVDA) calls which ran away from me.
- Forcing myself to remain patient into the close turned out better, helped reduce losses, but I didn't want to hold everything through until the morning given the risk of Nvidia (NVDA) earnings.
